A man has been charged after he allegedly hacked into the computer system of an Adelaide online company he used to work for.
The 27-year-old from Tailem Bend allegedly used passwords and other confidential information to break into the system.
South Australian police have described the hacking as one the worst cases of computer crime they have seen.
Detective Inspector Greg Hutchins says police will allege the man threatened the company's director and hacked the system on Tuesday, before deleting data used to run the business.
"It may be a series of incidents, but those incidents would only have been over the last day or so," he said.
"This certainly is one of the more serious unlawful modification of computer data that we've seen."
