A Canadian couple has unearthed a prehistoric fish fossil in north-west Queensland.
Gary and Barb Flewelling discovered the fossil of a predatory fish during a dig near Richmond, east of Mount Isa.
"When something like that is turned over, you're the first person who's ever seen it," he said.
"It's just magic - I just love it.
"It's exciting out in the digs, you never know what you're going to find."
The curator of Kronosauras Korner, Paul Stumkat, says the fossil is that of a pachyrhizodus and is about 100-million-years-old.
"I'm always very excited to see a potentially complete or articulated specimen because that's always the rarest thing," he said.
Mr and Mrs Flewelling are applying the final touches to the bones before they are put on display in the museum.
