Socceroo defender McKain joins Reds

Australian international defender Jon McKain has joined Adelaide United for the next three A-League seasons.

McKain, 28, who spent last season with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nasr, played in Australia's last two friendlies against New Zealand and Serbia among 16 games for his country.

McKain, who played two A-League seasons with Wellington Phoenix before his departure to Saudi Arabia, provides Reds head coach Rini Coolen with added depth in defence after the loss of Iain Fyfe and Robert Cornthwaite to South Korea last season.

His acquisition continues a solid recruitment drive by the Reds ahead of October's new season and he joins fellow current Socceroo Dario Vidosic and fringe national team striker Bruce Djite in Adelaide.
